Dermizax™
Thanks to its molecular structure, the breathability of Dermizax™ varies and increases with increasing activity. At higher temperatures on the inside, the molecules move faster through the membrane. This means that the more you perspire under the garment, the more moisture is wicked away to the outside. This ensures an optimum body climate even during intense physical activity.
When resting, during less intensive sporting activity or on colder days, the membrane provides reliable protection against cooling, as no heat can escape through the non-existent pores.
In contrast to PTFE membranes, Dermizax™ is fully recyclable. In addition, no harmful waste products are produced during manufacture.
The membrane is stretchable up to 200% and can be stretched in all directions, ensuring that Dermizax™ allows exceptional freedom of movement. The lightweight, thin fabric is extraordinarily soft and more comfortable to wear than the usual, stiffer shells.
In contrast to microporous membranes, the pores of which clog over time with dirt and perspiration, the functionality and breathability of Dermizax™ remain intact over the long term.
While porous membranes suffer when washed with standard washing powder and tiny deposits can clog pores, Dermizax™ can be washed frequently with regular detergent without any loss of function.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The waterproofness of a membrane is measured by the water column. This indicates the level of water pressure that a fabric can withstand before water penetrates it. All Dermizax™ membranes have a water column of at least 20,000 mm or more and are consequently extremely waterproof. The additional water-repellent DWR finish (Durable Water Repellent) ensures water and dirt-repellent protection on the outside and prevents the outer material from becoming saturated. Dermizax™ is also absolutely windproof.
The breathability of a fabric is usually measured by the MVTR value (Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate), which indicates how much water vapour will pass through a square metre of fabric in a 24-hour period. Triple-layered Dermizax™ EV has a value of 16,000g/m²/24h. This means that Dermizax™ EV is highly breathable.
The Dermizax™ membrane is available with a 2-layered, 2.5-layered or 3-layered construction. In the triple-layered construction used by Martini Sportswear, the outer fabric layer, the Dermizax™ EV membrane and a thin lining layer are firmly laminated together. As a result, the membrane is better protected against external damage and the fabric is extremely hard-wearing, abrasion-resistant and durable.
Dermizax™ clothing can be washed inside out with standard powder detergent (without fabric softener or bleach). It should not be wrung out or spun, and should be dried naturally.
It is advisable to waterproof the jacket or pants regularly, preferably with a PFC-free waterproofing spray, to restore the original water-repellent properties of the outer material.
