What is Pertex® Shield Revolve™?

Pertex® Revolve™ is one of the latest innovations by British manufacturer Pertex, a global leader in light, functional high-tech fabrics. The highly innovative functional material is used in waterproof high-end outdoor clothing and IS comfortable to wear while offering protection from the elements as well as maximum sustainability. It is completely wind- and waterproof, highly breathable, robust and extraordinarily light – perfect for challenging excursions to the mountains and into nature.

The special thing about Pertex® Revolve™ is that the functional fabric is entirely made from the same basic material: The upper material as well as the membrane and supporting material are made from 100% recycled polyester. This makes it easier to be recycled at the end of its life cycle – in the spirit of a circular economy, every Pertex® Revolve™ functional fabric can be fully reclaimed.

Martini Sportswear uses Pertex® Revolve™, as well as other Pertex® Shield fabrics year-round in a variety of weather-resistant jackets, waistcoats and trousers for women and men, mainly to be worn as a third layer.

how does Pertex® Shield Revolve™ work?

Pertex® Shield technology with 2-, 2.5- or 3-layered structures combines a lightweight, technical upper layer with a waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane; a laminated thin supporting material is optional.

A DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the outside of the upper material repels rain and snow while maintaining the natural breathability of the fine weave.

Thanks to the fabric’s capillary action, moisture is transported away from the body through microfine pores to facilitate faster drying. Even when you’re pushing your limits, you’ll feel nice and dry.

what's special about Pertex® Shield Revolve™?

Conventional waterproof functional fabrics are made from a variety of different polymer layers such as nylon, polyurethane, polyester and fluoropolymers. These types of multi-material fabrics are hard to recycle at the end of the product life cycle – separating the various polymers into their respective recyclable streams presents a major challenge.

Pertex® Shield Revolve™, on the other hand, is a monomaterial laminate. That means every layer of this innovative fabric is made from the same polymer – from 100% recycled polyester. The efficient upper material is made from recycled polyester yarn; the breathable, waterproof, microporous membrane is made from recycled polyester; the optional thin supporting material is made from recycled polyester.

This composition from a single material makes Pertex® Shield Revolve™ fabric much easier to recycle at the end of the life cycle of a garment. The material stays in a closed loop, which minimises waste of resources and reduces the overall environmental impact of an item of clothing.

how do i wash Pertex® Shield Revolve™ clothing?

In general, Pertex® clothing can be machine washed with a mild liquid detergent (no fabric softener) on a delicate cycle (without spinning) at 30 degrees Celsius. Detailed care and washing instructions incl. information on the best way to dry can be found on the care labels of all Martini Sportswear products.

Good to know: Once the outside layer no longer repels water, the fabric surface should be treated with a special impregnation agent to help retain the material’s waterproof qualities.
